- By tradition the family was from Lancashire ENG but 'The English Ancestry of Jacob Farrer of Lancaster, Mass.' by Lilian K.P. Farrar (NEHG Register, Volume 95 (1941), pages 3 - 13) shows the family to be from Yorkshire ENG. Jacob emigrated by 24 Sep 1653 for on that date he signed a 'covenant' at Lancaster, Worcester MA with his brother John. He emigrated without his wife and the four children who who were born there, they joined his at Lancaster MA in 1658.
