- Named as a son of son of Amos Roberts and Margaret Thomas of Richland, Bucks county, Pa. in Samuel Spencer of Pennsylvania. Hugh Roberts was a miller; he was thus engaged in Moreland after his marriage, but in 1811 he bought the historic Townsend mill, east of Germantown, on the Wingohocking creek, and conducted it until his death. - Samuel Spencer of Pennsylvania
