- Emigrated to Roxbury MA about 1653 and removed shortly to Providence RI. Joshua emigrated with Henry Fowler, who is an ancestor of the compiler of this genealogy. Henry went to Providence with Joshua and married Rebecca Newell, daughter of
Abraham Newell of Roxbury MA, there.
From Clara Hart Kennedy's 'Edward Hart Descendants and Allied Families' (1939): Henry Fowler arrived with Joshua Foote in 1652/53. Joshua, "friend and patron" of Henry, had land in both Roxbury MA (his land was next to Abraham Newell's) and
Providence RI. Henry accompanied Joshua to Providence in January 1654, which is most likely where Henry married Rebecca Newell in 1655.
Some genealogies of the Fowler family list Henry as having married Rebecca daughter of Joshua Foote, but this is apparently mistaken.
Though Joshua's birthyear isn't listed he was probably at least 50 years old when he emigrated. Several of his children, who would have been adults themselves by 1650, appear to have remained in London ENG.
