Records of Middletown MM, Bucks Co PA dated 6 Mar 1731, show that John was "Complained of for Marriage to one not a member."

In his own will John's last name was spelled 'Leedam'. He wrote it on 9 Aug 1743, prior to the births of his three youngest children. All his personal estate was left to "Susanah my Dearly beloved wife" as well as "five pounds per anom during her widowhood". He left all his real estate to his three sons, "John, Sammuel, and Allijah" and to his two daughters, "Ann and Hannah", he left twenty pounds each, to be paid by his sons when the youngest came of age. The witnesses were named as Nicholas Tucker, Thomas Pritchard and Thomas Hillborn.
He apparently died about Aug 1750 as his widow, "Susanna Yeats Late Susanah Leadam the widow of John Leadam" stated in a Bucks County Orphans Court petition in the 11 Dec 1754 that "she hath been a widow four Years and four months".
A Bucks County Orphan's Court session dated 15 Mar 1758 brought a petition by John's son John, the surname spelled as 'Leydom' throughout. John the son stated that his father had made his will in 1743 nominating Cuthbert Hayhurst and Benjamin Cutler the sole Executors. Hayhurst had since died and Cutler, "the surviving Executor appearing too easy and neglectful in an affair of such moment", John requested the court appoint guardians to take proper care of the estate. As petitioner, John would have been older than 21 years and he stated that "Sam'l and Elijah, under 21 years, Benja., Wm, & Mary had been born since the will was made". The court appointed Evan Jones and William Paxson to review and in Mar 1759 their report was read and filed. They found there was £21, 15, 10 remaining in the hands of "Benjamin Cutler Executor of John Leadum, late of Southampton Deceased" and the court then confirmed the report and the accounting.
The court ordered John Gregg and Ezra Croasdale be Guardians to William and Mary Leydom. Elijah Leydom then appeared, being about 14 years old, and prayed that John Gregg be appointed his Guardian and it was so ordered. Benjamin Leydom next appeared and prayed the Court to appoint Ezra Croasdale to be his Guardian and it, too, was so ordered.
No mention is made of Ann or Hannah as Ann, aged about 23 had been married in 1754 and Hannah about 19 years old.
I have been unable to find birth records for any of John and Susannah's children save William. His birth date, however, is only provided by Sarah Eachus in The Leedom Family and no source is given.
