Notes |
- Banfield Capron came from ENG 1674 or 75 at 14 years old. Tradition says he came alone as cabin boy to seek his fortune. Settled Barrington MA, married, raised a large family and moved to Attleborough after 20 years and became a large landowner. Banfield died Aug 20, 1752 and is supposedly buried in the 'Peck burying ground'. He gave 200 acres of land to each of his children before he died (or when he died) but no stone was erected in his memory. The name of 2nd wife not given in 'Sketch of the History of Attleborough' but 'New England Families, Genealogical and Memorial, Vol. III', page 1449, gives it as Elizabeth Blackington, who died 10 May 1735. The Doggett/Daggett genealogy says that Sarah, widow of John Daggett, was Banfield's 3rd wife.
