- Father's name unknown but he owned King Salt Works in Smythe Co VA. - From Tim Mattingly.
Despite finding multiple references in books and government surveys to King's Salt-works information about the owner is scarce. History of Davidson County, Tennessee, states that it was owned by a William King. An article in The Friend, vol. 8, published in 1835, states that William King died a wealthy man on 13 Oct 1808 and the works were then run by his widow who next married an F. Smith but I've not found more about her second husband.
