John De Master, 76, passed away at his home in Cedar Grove at 7:30 p.m. Friday. He had been in ill health for nine weeks was a patient at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital.
Born Feb. 14, 1878 , on the De Master homestead in the village of Cedar Grove, he resided there his entire life. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John De Master, Sr.
He was married to Miss Katheriine Huenink on July 22, 1903, at Cedar Grove, after which they operated their farm for several years. He then was employed at the Musebeck Shoe Co. at Cedar Grove for 28 years, and retired about three years ago.
A lifetime member of the First Presbyterian Church, he was always active in church affairs. The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary last summer.
Survivors are his wife; a brother, Peter, of Cedar Grove; and numerous nieces and nephews. A brother and sister preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church parlors at Cedar Grove, followed at 2:15 p.m. with services in the church. The Rev. Robert Van Der Hart will officiate and interment will be made in the Prebyterian cemetery north of the village.
Friends may call at the Te Ronde Funeral Chapel from 2 p.m. Monday to 10 a.m. Tuesday and then at the church from 11 a.m. until the time of the services.
