Hall age 32, joiner - all of these Smiths are from NY. Age 34 in 1880 census of Bingham, Clinton MI. Born NY, Orange Co NY according to his marriage record, and both parents from NY. Listed in the 1894 Veterans of Civil War census at DeWitt, Clinton MI - he fought in Co. E. of the 30th MI Infantry, his pension record lists him an invalid on 15 Jul 1890, Mary listed a widow on 6 Oct 1922. In 1900 living at Allis Twp, Presque Isle MI with wife Mary, children Howard L. and Marvel M. and boarder Therin L. Fitz (Therin was Mary's son by her first marriage). In 1910 resided at White Pigeon Twp, St. Joseph MI "wagon maker". In 1910 daughter Marvel is listed as "adopted", her parents from VT and MI. In 1920 resided at Nunda Twp, Cheboygan MI with Allen and Marvel Stone.
Smith's death certificate names his father as Samuel Hall.
