Notes |
- Ten year old Robert is described as 'son' in the 1880 census of Philadelphia showing Robert Williamson, Anna, and Anna's mother Deborah Nace. He was not listed with them in the 1870 census.Other than this record I have found nothing definitive about this Robert Williamson.
I finally found a baptism record for a Robert Williamson at Church of the Nativity which names his parents as Robert and Annie Williamson. He was born 29 Oct 1868 and baptised 4 Apr 1886. The witnesses were Louis Kuester, Michael J. Miller, and Mrs. J. J. Wilson. There is an address in the name block, 1313 Olive St, which may be Robert and Annie's address at the time. However, his birth in Oct of 1868 is only four months after the marriage of Robert and Anna, not impossible, of course, but somewhat unlikely. And again, he was not listed with them in 1870 even though he would only have been two years old.
I have found no records of this Robert later than his 1886 baptism. There is a record of a Robert Williamson who married Annie Jane Porter in 1886, only three months after the adult baptism date of the son of Robert and Anna. There are several records of the stillborn deaths of their children but, so far, I can not determine that he was this particular Robert Williamson. Then, having found their son give the middle name of his father as 'Steele' in his Veterans Service Compensation Application I don't think this marriage pertains to the son of Robert Williamson and Anna Nace either.
.....
It had seemed possible that Robert Williamson, son of Robert Stedman Williamson, married Alverda Winpenny and I added records of her and their children pending more information. I noted that it was possible that the family I included were those of a different Robert Williamson.
And according to a well sourced ancestry tree by Graig Stanford, that possibility is exactly the case. He shows Robert Emmet Williamson, with the same birth and death dates I had, married to Alverda M. Winpenny, again with the same birth and death dates I had, and with all the children I had included in their family. He named Robert 's parents as George Robert Williamson and Margaret C. Harbison not Robert Williamson and Anna Nace as I had originally thought.
I've now made corrections by removing Alverda and her children.
