He purchased in 1773 of Thomas and Mary (Field) Yardley 107 acres of land in Lower Makefield, on which he lived and died. He was a wheelwright by trade and followed that vocation in connection with farming. He died in 1786 leaving two sons, Samuel and William; and three daughters: Anna, wife of John Leedom; Hannah, wife of James White; and Mary, wife of John Hough. - History of Bucks County Pennsylvania, p. 125
Richard and Lucilla requested and received a Certificate of Removal from Falls MM to Burlington MM for their son Samuel on 5th day 10th Month 1785. Samuel was to be apprenticed in Burlington.

Eldest son Samuel stated that his father Richard had died before Apr 19, 1794.
Left five children: Samuel (eldest son), Anna (wife of John Leedom, Jr.), Hannah (wife of James White), Mary (deceased, wife of John Hough, also deceased, left two children Phineas and Lucilla, both minors), and William (age 19).

Joseph Fell, High Sheriff of Bucks County, and a jury returned a verdict dated 12 Mar 1796 on the value and division of lands that belonged to Richard Yardley. His lands in Lower Makefield, "consisted of one dwelling house and one Barn and Tract of one hundred & seven acres and one hundred fifty-one perches of cleared land and a Lot of Twenty five acres of Woodland all now in the possession of Samuel Yardley the eldest son of the intestate." They determined that the land could not be divided without spoiling the whole and should remain in the possession of Samuel Yardley.

Many online trees and reports show another daughter as the Lucy Yardley who married Elijah Leedom. Every listing of Richard and Lucilla's children that I've seen, from Davis in the History of Bucks County to Quaker Meeting records, omits her name from the lists of their children.
