- Obituary from the Cedar Grove column of the Sheboygan Herald on Saturday, September 7, 1912:
Cedar Grove Respected Pioneer Dies
At noon on Thursday, Aug. 29th occured the death of Mrs. J.W. Wieberdink at her home near the village being just 77 years old the day she died. The cause of death was arteriosclerosis. The deceased was born in the Netherlands, Holland Aug. 29, 1835 where she lived for a number of years and there was united in marriage to Bernard Huenink. On June 5, 1869 Mr. and Mrs. Huenink in company with other relatives and friends sailed from Rotterdam and landed at Quebec after a voyage of eleven days [Can the length of that voyage be correct?]. They came direct to Sheboygan County landing at Amsterdam where they lived until 1876 when Mr. Huenink was suddenly killed in a runaway leaving a wife and seven children. In 1889, thirteen years later, the deceased was united in marriage to J. W. Wieberdink, Rev. J.W.F. Roth performing the ceremony. After nineteen years of wedded bliss Mr. Wieberdink died on Mar. 1, 1907.
Mrs. Wieberdink was one of the early settlers of Amsterdam (Amsterdam was a small fishing village on the shore of Lake Michigan, directly east of Cedar Grove) and throughout her long residence there won many friends. She was held in high esteem by all who had the pleasure of her acquaintance. The funeral was held Saturday at the home at 1:00 o'clock and at the Presbyterian Church at 2:00 o clock the Rev. J.W.F. Roth officiating. Interment was made in the Oostburg Cemetery.
The deceased is survived by seven children: Ben, J. B. and Garret Huenink, Mrs. G. J. Walvoord and Mrs. L. DeBruine all of Cedar Grove, Henry Huenink and Mrs. A. J. Wieberdink of Baldwin. The Herald joins with a large circle of friends in extending their sympathy to the grief stricken relatives in their bereavment."
