| Notes |
- While the Leedom Family gives Lucy's birth as 1775 and her death as 29 Apr 1848, the Champaign County Historical Society reports her death as 29 Apr 1818 at age 53 putting her birth year at 1765. Jeff Laney sent the society's comment to me in 2002 but the Falls meeting records contradict that date.
Falls MM records dated 4th of the 12th Mo, 1828 have an entry stating, "Hannah Tomlinson, Mary Featherby, Ann Stapler, Lucy Leedom (wife of Elijah) have absented themselves from our religious Meetings, & attended meetings held in violation of our discipline, by those who have gone from religious fellowship with us."
Given the statement in Falls MM records of Dec 1828 including the fortunate identification of Lucy as the 'wife of Elijah', Lucy was alive in Dec 1828.
Elijah was disowned along with many others by Falls MM in records dated 8 Jan 1829. The date of the disownments aligns with the 'Hicksite Schism' and may even have led to the removal of Elijah and many of his family to Ohio.
Lucy and Elijah appear in the 1830 census of Upper Makefield as well, 1 male over 60 and one female 50-60, their four youngest children appear in appropriate age brackets and their four oldest children were either in OH by 1830 (Thomas Y) or were already married and in their own households.
A memorial at Find A Grave notes an inscription on her tombstone, "Wife of E. Leedom - aged 73y, 3m", though there is no photo of it. This age at death results in the calculated birth date I'm using here.
