Notes |
- A 1758 Bucks County Orphan's Court petition appointed John Gregg and Ezra Croasdale as guardian of William and Mary 'Leydom' who were under fourteen years of age.
A William Ledom is listed in 1790 Cheltenham Head of Household census. There are 2 men over 16, 3 males under 16 and 4 women. I currently know only of four children, 3 sons and a daughter, listed in the Southeastern Pennsylvania Birth Index.
Listed immediately below William is Joseph Pritchard with 3 men over 16, 3 under 16 and 2 women. Perhaps Joseph is a brother to William's wife Lydia.
This may also be the William Leedom in the 1800 Abington, Montgomery Co census, aged 45 or older and alone in the household though why he is alone is unknown as Lydia outlived him by many years.
The Abington MM marriage certificate names WIlliam as the "son of John Leedom, late of Southampton in the County of Bucks & Province aforesaid, Deceased, & of Susanna his wife". Lydia is named as "daughter of Thomas Prichard and Mary his wife late of the same Place aforesaid". They married 13 Apr 1768 at Abington Meeting.
The first signers of their marriage certificate after the bride and groom were Mary Pritchard, Susanna Pritchard, John Leedom, Samuel Leedom, Benjamin Leedom, Ann Craft, and the last unreadable name.
Their children were: Isaac, b. 10 Jan 1769; Mary, b. 12 Apr 1771; William, b. 4 Sep 1773; Jonathan, b. 27 Dec 1775. - Abington MM records
William and Lydia were described as "of Southwark in the County of Philadelphia" in the 1800 marriage certificate of their son Jonathan.
