News: Despite the Login on the Menu, no Login or Registration is required. We use this for administrative purposes only.

We now have three genealogy files on this site: our main database which is a combined ‘Ives-Leedom’ tree, plus two additional working trees with so-far unconnected people I've found along the way, ‘Leedoms-unknown’ and ‘Netherlands-unknown’. All of the Search results will identify which tree contains the individual or place in question.

Different sources sometimes have conflicting information and there are undoubtedly a few typographical errors in here as well. Please feel free to send us any corrections to errors you may find in our files. Additions are always welcome too!

(Leedom)

Female - 1707

  • Name (Leedom)
    Gender Female
Death 1707  Yorkshire, England Find all individuals with events at this location
    Notes
    • From "The Leedom Family" by Sara A. L. Eachus: John's wife, name unknown, died in 1707 as written in William and Sarah Phipps Leedom's bible. I've not seen copies of the bible pages and I've found no other records that reference the date of her death or even her name.

The burial of "Ellen, wife of John Leedom" is recorded in the registers of All Saints, Spofforth, Yorkshire and is shown by some as the wife this John Leedom:
26 Feb 1709 Ellen Wife of John Leedam of Follifoot Moorside
She was Ellin Winterburn who married John Leedom on 28 Aug 1684 at All Saints Church in Spofforth. Her husband was buried 24 Jul 1709 in the same churchyard and was not the same as the John Leedom who died before Oct 1701 when his son Richard was married.

Farnham is less than five miles north of Follifoot which is only two miles from Spofforth and approximately 20 miles northeast of South Milford and Sherburn-in-Elmet, a not impossible distance for travel or relocation. It's entirely possible, if not likely, that the two John Leedoms were related.
