- William's middle initial of 'A' appears in both 1860 and 1870 census listings. Elizabeth is not listed in 1870 with William and his children in Wassee. The 24 year old Susan Owen listed with him is a very young second wife, named as such in the 1880 census when they were living in Estillville, Scott Co VA.
He died before 1910 when Susan is described as widowed, living in Fulkerson, Scott Co with her son Benton (single) and three grandchildren, their parents unknown.
His full middle name is from Philip Walker, a great-grandson of William's daughter Catherine Carilda.
