A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 20, at Dey-Florin Chapel, Florin Funeral Service, St. Joseph, with Dr. Randy Doyle officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery, St. Joseph. Friends may visit with the family from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to donor's choice. Mavis was born on Nov. 12, 1928, in Cardiff, Wales, to Francis and Bertha (Redwood) Ham. She came to the United States after graduating from Cleve's College in 1945. She worked in the Information Technology department at Whirlpool for 29 years, retiring in 1983. She was a member of the Management and Retiree's Clubs at Whirlpool. She loved gardening and traveling. She also enjoyed yachting for many years with her husband, Dick, primarily on Lake Michigan aboard their boat, "Mave'Rick." During those years, she belonged to several local boating associations. Mavis is survived by her children, Steven (Cheryl) Walker of Vicksburg, Mich., Richard (Heidi) Walker of Lowell, Mich., and Janice (Van) Moore of Coloma; her stepchildren, Phillip (April) Ives of Texas, and Thomas (Mary) Ives and Terrance Ives, both of St. Joseph; seven grandchildren, Michelle (Michael) Russo, Brian Riemland, Wendy (Marc) Cole, Shannon Rauner, Anthony King, Jonathan Walker and David Walker; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Ives, in 1995, and her brother, Francis Ham, in 2000.
