- Ethel Pizl, of Antigo, died Saturday, April 13, 2013 at KHTCR-Eastview. She was 92 years old. She was born on January 20, 1921 in Antigo, a daughter of William and Lillian (Spencer) Harbeck. She married Fred Pizl on May 3, 1941 in Antigo. He preceded her in death on November 30, 2003.
She was a graduate of Antigo High School.
She and her husband owned and operated Pizl's Bakery in Antigo for 30 years. She later worked as a secretary at Waukesha Bearings and as a clerk at the Weinbrenner Outlet store in Antigo.
Mrs. Pizl was instrumental in starting the Langlade County Humane Society and raising funds to construct their current animal shelter in Antigo.
She enjoyed bowling, playing bridge and golfing.
Survivors include a son Greg (Tina) Pizl, Antigo, four grandchildren Alanda, Greg II and Marista Pizl and Rick Johnson; three great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a daughter Debbie Johnson and a brother George Harbeck.
A memorial gathering will be held from 4 - 6 p.m. on Tuesday at the Bradley Funeral Home.
