- I do not yet KNOW Alfred to have been a son of Warren and Marietta but odds are almost certain that he was. He is not listed in the 1850 Waterford, Oakland MI census with parents but the 1870 census of Victor, Clinton MI lists Alfred as 40 years old and born NY - in 1850 he would have been 20 years old and he was quite possibly on his own by then. On 25 Sep 1850 Alfred Ives married Huldah Lanning at Independence Twp, Oakland MI, this township just north of Waterford Twp, Oakland MI (this marriage apparently ended in divorce before 1860). In 1860 Alfred, wife Phebe and son George are at Akron, Tuscola MI. Alfred Ives "of Oakland MI" purchased land at Tuscola in 1858 ('History of Tuscola and Bay Cos, MI' lists Alfred Ives had land in Akron in Section 17 on December 8, 1855). In the 1870 census he is on the same page as Washington Ives and John Morgan (Washington's father-in-law). The 1870 census also lists a Frank ALDRICH age 11 residing with him. Frank was the son of Wells and Sarah A. (Ives) Aldrich. Sarah daughter of Warren and Marietta Ives and her son living with Alfred would seem to indicate a close relationship. The 1864 plat map of Victor Township shows A. Ives land just east of W.R. Webb (husband of Mary Jane Ives), and northeast of land owned by W. Ives. In 1880 Alfred and Phebe living at Laingsburg Village, Shiawassee MI.
The 1900 and 1910 censuses of Laingsburg list Phebe Ives as the mother of no children, none still living. Son George was probably the son of Alfred's first wife Huldah. Daughter Mary appears to have been adopted by Alfred and second wife Phebe.

Alfred's death certificate is the source of his birth/death dates. It does not name his parents other than father named "- Ives" and mother "not sure".

- Alfred's death certificate is the source of the marriage date which states it is "not certain" how old he was at first marriage but "2d marriage Jan'y 28th 1858". Unknown where Alfred and Phebe married, though probably either Tuscola or Oakland County MI (the 1900 census lists Alfred and Phebe as married for 40 years).
