  Notes	George was not listed in the 1850 census with the couple I thought for years were his parents, Samuel and Eliza Leedom, even though George would only have been about 13 years old. He was not named in the will of Samuel Leedom, written in 1871, nor were any of George's four children who were born before 1871 despite Samuel's fairly detailed will in which he named only two sons, Augustus and Emmor. After years of vacillation I've decided that George B. and Samuel J. Leedom were not children of Samuel Leedom and Eliza Steel even though Sara Eachus listed them as their children. I believe Samuel J. was a son of Elijah Leedom and Elizabeth McKillup, as stated by his son Charles in Samuel's 1922 death certificate. While I have not yet found any documents regarding George's parentage I'm now listing him as a son of Elijah, keeping his relationship as a brother of Samuel until I can find more information. So far I cannot find George listed in any census record of 1850 or 1860. By 1863 George was living in Principio MD, listed in the Civil War Draft Registrations as a 27 year old farmer, single, born in PA. George and Josephine's 1863 Oxford, M. E. Chester Co, PA marriage record states they both resided in Cecil Co MD but no parents are named in the record. In the 1900 census of Charlestown, Cecil MD, George lists his mother as born in New Jersey. (Maybe this reference to his mother's birthplace is not incorrect after all.) George and Josephine are listed in 1900 as having had nine children, five of whom were living in 1900. Although I've found no record yet, George must have died between 1900 and 1910 as Josephine is listed as a widow in the later census and resided with their son Clyde. There is a George B. Leedom indexed in Maryland online death certificates who died in Cecil County on 23 Aug 1906, aged 70 years. There is also an obituary that may be for this George Leedom if the wrong middle initial is ignored: Death notice in The Philadelphia Inquirer on 26 Aug 1905 Maryland Happenings - Special to the Inquirer Elkton, Md., - Aug 25. - George R. Leedom, a respected citizen of Charlestown, was found dead sitting in a chair to-day at his home. Heart trouble is said to have been the cause of death. A widow and four children survive him.
