- William's wife Agnes and all six of their children are named, with their ages, in the petition of the widow Agnes for an inventory of William's considerable estate in preparation for sale of a portion for payment of debts. In the petition dated 5 Jan 1824 Agnes "prays that an inventory may be duly taken....& that a meeting of family may be duly called to deliberate upon the expediency of terms of said sale".
By July 1825 Agnes again petitioned the Judge of St. Martin's Parish this time stating that "the said William Armstrong deceased is insolvent & owes more in debts than the property of which it is composed will be sufficient to pay". She again pettioned that "a meeting of family may be duly called to deliberate upon the interests of said minors".
