Notes |
- Ancestry given in 'An American family : Botsford-Marble Ancestral Lines' by Donald Lines Jacobus ends with grandfather Samuel.
'History and directory of Yates County : containing a sketch of its original settlement by the Public Universal Friends' also has more information.
A transcription of the 'Friends Death Book' in 'Inscriptions from Three Abandoned Cemeteries in Yates County, New York' (1955) by Mrs. Thelma Burton Bootes has this information:
"Abel Botsford left time 17th of the 8 MO-1817 - Aged all most 70 years. All his children left time before him. So that it made good the prediction - "That thisman shall die Childless".(c,5,a,84)".
His date of death is given in the old date style though that dating practice ceased in 1752 (?). So I don't know whether August is actually meant by "8mo" or October. A transcription of the Friends Burial Grounds in Jerusalam, Yates NY by Diane Thomas transcribed his date of death as 17 Aug 1817.
Abel died "intestate" (without a will), administration of the "Estate of Abel Botsford, late of Town of Benton, Co. Ontario...granted to Mary Botsford Relict" 8 Sep 1817.
